Onward State

In 2011, as a graduate student at PSU, I joined a scrappy, snarky and smart bunch of kids that were writing some of the best and funniest posts about Penn State and life in Happy Valley. I became Social Media Manager in Fall 2011 along with the late Alex Federman, who became Community Manager the following semester. That year was a tumultuous year for the University and, to a lesser extent, for the blog. I developed important new skills and improved the ones I already had. Most importantly I had a blast and made friendships for life with that bunch of misfits. Onward State is now a nationally-known student journalism outlet, with the largest social media following and an integral stakeholder in the PSU community.
